There are numerous styles of engagement rings and selecting one that not only has importance to the wearer but has a style and beauty can be fun. For those looking into their own culture and heritage, a Celtic engagement ring can bring a sense of history to a couple.

Styles Of Celtic Engagement Rings

There are several styles of rings that use traditional Irish themes and incorporate them into styles that are chosen by many today. One style of classic Celtic engagement rings is the Claddagh.

The Claddagh ring has two hands holding a heart between them with a crown above the heart. The phrase that usually is found is “Let love and friendship reign.” This classic ring is thought to have originated in Claddagh Galaway and Claddagh means a village situated by the seashore. This village can be found in Ireland and is known as the birth place of the Claddagh.

This style of ring is interesting as it is so well known and comes from such a small community. People from around the world recognize this style and identify it as one of the classic Celtic engagement rings. The rings style was used within the community as a wedding ring, and for many using this style honors their own heritage. If the ring is selected, the crown should be worn closets to the knuckle.

Other types of classic Celtic engagement rings include styles that feature Celtic knots. These very beautiful interwoven patterns are very well known as a traditional Celtic style. Many of these rings can be used for not only the engagement ring but also the wedding bands. The knot pattern can be placed on the engagement ring and then run on the wedding band to complete the pattern and the set.

Celtic swirls are also very commonly used. Again these patterns feature a swirl design that can run around the band and be incorporated into the engagement ring tying all of the pieces together.

Another way to bring the tradition of Ireland is to combine some of the traditional Celtic knots and swirls around a stone in the center of the ring. These designs can even be made to stand out on the ring by changing the color of design to make a visual impact.

These Celtic engagement rings are a classic and a unique way to bring a tradition into the present day that makes a statement and retains the mystery of time long ago.
